An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Transport Officer to join the City of Edinburgh Council’s Placemaking and Mobility Strategy and Development Team. The role will support the development, coordination, delivery and monitoring of the Council’s flagship local transport strategy - the City Mobility Plan.

The ideal candidate will bring skills and energy together to help us transform the Capital - ensuring our streets provide excellent placemaking and sustainable mobility opportunities, alongside addressing the challenges of climate change and inequalities. This candidate must be proactive, enthusiastic, and creative; showing a keen desire to develop skills in data analytics, project management and delivery.
The role will be primarily responsible for supporting the coordination, development, delivery and monitoring of the City Mobility Plan and its associated strategies. This will include the collation, management, analysis and presentation of various transport data to measure progress against the City Mobility Plan’s objectives. Some of the data you will be analysing may include journey times, traffic flows, carbon emissions, mode shares, perceptions of safety etc.
The role will also require good communication and engagement skills to support the development and delivery of the City Mobility Plan including production of appropriate outputs, ranging from presentations to reports for a variety of audiences.
You should be:
1. educated to degree level in a relevant discipline;
2. strongly interested in managing and analysing complex quantitative and qualitative data;
3. a creative thinker and excellent communicator, with an ability to develop solid relationships, proactively and enthusiastically; and
4. knowledgeable and passionate about sustainability, urban planning/transport and/or public policy.
