This is an exciting opportunity within a Logistics Operation. A.F. Blakemore is recruiting at their purpose-built multi-temperature depot in Bedford. We are looking for an experienced Transport Manager who is motivated, friendly, hard-working, and passionate. The ideal candidate has the drive and motivation to support and engage a diverse team. You will have overall responsibility for managing the daily activities of the company's fleet policy and associated transport staff, ensuring compliance with legal requirements, company policies, quality standards, and budget constraints, while providing effective service to customers.

Key Accountabilities
1. Delivering an effective daily operating plan
2. Ensuring the download of all company-related tachograph information, including tacho charts and digital cards
3. Reducing accidents through continued training and assessment
4. Debriefing drivers effectively using Bluetree system, driver scorecards, and tachograph infringement management
5. Reducing fuel usage through SAFED training and assessment
6. Managing headcount, vehicle resources, and purchasing to deliver the best service at minimum cost
7. Liaising with support desk staff, internal departments, and customers regarding delivery constraints
8. Controlling contract maintenance work effectively
9. Overseeing performance and development of direct reports in line with leadership competencies
10. Participating in projects to improve customer service within budgeted costs
Knowledge, Skills, Experience, and Qualifications
1. Transport Manager CPC (National/International)
2. Basic education (numeracy and literacy)
3. Knowledge of tachograph and working time regulations
4. Knowledge of vehicle maintenance schedules
5. Experience working with a mixed fleet
6. Knowledge of driver CPC
7. Previous line management experience and basic employment law/HR knowledge (preferred but not essential)
8. Excellent communication skills and relationship-building ability
9. Customer-focused mindset
10. Ability to challenge appropriately and identify improvement areas
11. Flexible working hours
12. Conflict resolution skills
