The Role:
The Junior Youth Worker supports the delivery of youth programmes that aim to reduce risky behaviours, improve wellbeing, and support aspirations, using the Act, Belong, Commit model. Working under the supervision of senior staff, they help create a safe, welcoming environment where young people feel valued, connected, and engaged in positive opportunities. This role suits someone with some experience who is ready to grow in responsibility and impact.
The three core outcomes of this role are to:
Improve young people’s wellbeing and emotional resilience.
Reduce risky behaviours by offering trusted support and positive alternatives.
Increase aspiration and help young people feel valued, connected, and hopeful about their future.
Key Responsibilities:
Relationship-Based Youth Work
Support the planning and delivery of sessions and projects that promote positive wellbeing and reduce risky behaviours. Build supportive, professional relationships with young people aged 13–19.
Encourage participation in activities that foster belonging, structure, and purpose (Act, Belong, Commit). Supervise activities, ensuring safety, inclusion, and positive engagement.
Assist with behaviour management (ongoing with training support). Help set up and clear away equipment and activity spaces.
Contribute ideas to strengthen youth wellbeing and aspirations.
Maintain accurate registers, incident logs and safeguarding documentation.
Promote an inclusive and aspirational environment for all young people.
Report concerns, safeguarding issues or incidents to senior staff.
Work collaboratively with the youth work team and volunteers.

Previous experience in youth or community settings.
