As our company grows, the corporate IT department is expanding. Our IT department supports the vital work, completed by over 1300 end users, delivered across our National Security, Defence and Intelligence business units. The unique nature of our business creates complex and often time-critical demands on Roke’s central services. Rising to meet complex challenges to build reliable, effective and enduring IT platforms is at the heart of our IT department’s strategy. we empower our Systems Engineers to challenge; improve and change how we operate. They are involved in the specification, design, development, implementation and operations of IT across the enterprise.
Roke has a broad and sophisticated IT estate that requires our Systems Engineers to apply, hone and gain experience in diverse fields from ‘conventional’ on-premises systems to cloud computing and ‘air gapped’ systems supplying diverse services to our customer base.
This is a 12 month FTC.
Job Purpose & Key Responsibilities
* Responsible for the proactive package, test and deployment of software, OS, security patches, and updates to a varied Microsoft end-user device and server estate.
* Accountable for maintaining configuration documentation, participating in change management processes and supporting end user engineering tasks.
* Understand and input into desktop engineering standards, processes and best practices
* Conduct data analysis and liaise with colleagues and stakeholders to design and implement solutions that mitigate security vulnerabilities, improve compliance efficiency and minimise working hours downtime.
* Support and mentor colleagues in the use of relevant technology packages and industry standard procedures.
* Participate in the design and implementation of new IT infrastructure, ensuring the principles of secure-by-design and automate-by-default are adhered-to for patching and updates
* Conduct 3rd line support and troubleshooting as required
Required skills & Experience
* Expert understanding of MSI/MSIX technology, including transforms.
* Operating System Deployment (OSD), including tools such as MDT plus experience of OS migrations (Windows 10 to Windows 11)
* Must have packaged applications for Windows 10, Windows 11 and equivalent Windows Server platforms. Demonstrable experience of package defect remediation required.
* SCCM, MECM and EPM/InTune administration
* Microsoft Group Policy Objects (GPOs)
* Scripting experience using BAT, PowerShell and VB, C# Scripts
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a genuine enthusiasm towards IT service management
* Self-motivated with a can do attitude and comfortable working with ambiguity
* Strong communication skills both written and verbal
* Always fully comply with Roke’s policies and procedures
* Undertake such other reasonable duties, commensurate with the job holder’s experience and qualifications, as may be required for the smooth operation of the business
