The Team

We are offering an experienced Social Worker the opportunity to join ECC's Safeguarding Triage team, which focuses on triaging and managing all new safeguarding concerns referred to Adult Social Care.

The team supports effective decision-making to ensure section 42 enquiries are progressed appropriately. It oversees and screens incoming safeguarding workflows and maintains strong links across all quadrants, as section 42 enquiries remain their responsibility. This role provides opportunities to build networks in various areas.

The position is primarily home-based and office-based, with opportunities to visit adults across Essex based on risk levels and communication needs. The service aims to provide a consistent approach to triaging and progressing enquiries, leading to more accurate safeguarding data for Adult Social Care.

This innovative approach is new to Essex County Council. The successful candidate will help shape how safeguarding is made personal when applying Care Act thresholds.

You will have established experience in Adult Social Care, demonstrating good practice, providing advice, and guiding in complex situations. As a subject matter expert, you should have a comprehensive understanding of current legislation, regulations, and guidance.

You should also have experience chairing meetings with clients, families, carers, and multi-agency professionals, and be able to develop strong relationships with partner agencies and the community to support vulnerable adults.

* Evidence of ongoing professional development and capability aligned with current standards.
* An understanding of the financial implications of commissioned care packages.
