Primary Purpose of the Role:
Thales AWS (Above Water Systems) has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Project Controller at Crawley.
The primary purpose of this role is to provide project planning, monitoring, and control expertise to the project.
Working directly with the Project Manager (PM) and Project Management Office (PMO) Manager, this role supports the definition of project goals and objectives, creates and maintains cost and schedule baselines, monitors and analyzes progress against these baselines, and advises the Project Manager on decision-making through the presentation and interpretation of relevant project data.
There will be infrequent travel required to customer sites across the UK and occasional trips to the Netherlands.
This role will require SC Clearance. It would be advantageous if currently held; if not, it is expected that the post holder will undergo SC Clearance. Please visit the UKSV website for further guidance.
Key Responsibilities and Tasks:
1. Update project schedules with work package & control account managers, reflecting progress and estimates to complete (ETC).
2. Identify schedule slippages & mitigate through re-planning actions.
3. Provide performance data to support decision-making and improve project execution.
4. Maintain the Project Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) and Organizational Breakdown Structure (OBS).
5. Organize and facilitate progress meetings with the Project Manager.
6. Ensure consistent monthly Dashboard Pack reporting and prepare for Project Management Reviews.
7. Manage Cost and Schedule Change Control processes.
8. Update and analyze project Integrated Baseline Planning (IBP) data, ensuring accuracy and sign-off.
9. Support risk management activities, including risk reviews and maintaining the Risk Register.
10. Coordinate the development of Visual Display Boards showing progress and milestones.
11. Implement planning policies and governance for project control standards and procedures.
Must Have Skills:
1. Experience with scheduling tools such as Oracle Primavera and Microsoft Project.
2. Understanding of Earned Value Management (EVM) principles and implementation.
Experience:
1. At least 10 years of experience in planning, scheduling, data analysis, and cost control within a complex engineering or manufacturing environment.
2. Experience in high-level and detailed schedule compilation, reporting, budgeting, and risk management.
3. Experience in a defense environment is advantageous.
Qualifications:
1. HNC/HND in Engineering or Business Management is desirable, or proven successful experience in planning large projects.
