Our busy workshop operates with nine ramps and specialises in MOT testing, vehicle servicing, mechanical repairs, and advanced vehicle diagnostics for cars and light commercial vehicles. Known for our honest advice, technical expertise, and high standards of customer care, we continue to grow through repeat business and customer recommendations. Following the retirement of a long-standing team member, we are now looking to strengthen our team with an experienced MOT Tester who is also confident carrying out hands-on mechanical work.
About the Role
This is a varied and rewarding position combining MOT Testing with general vehicle servicing and repair duties. As a qualified MOT Tester / Automotive Technician, you will conduct DVSA-compliant MOT inspections while also supporting the workshop with diagnostics, fault-finding, and mechanical repairs. You'll work on a wide range of cars and vans, using advanced diagnostic systems in a professional, well-equipped garage environment.
Key Responsibilities
* Perform MOT tests in accordance with DVSA regulations and VOSA standards
* Inspect brakes, suspension, steering, tyres, exhaust systems, lighting, and emissions
* Carry out vehicle servicing, maintenance, and mechanical repairs
* Support advanced diagnostic and fault-finding work
* Complete accurate MOT records and service documentation
* Identify defects and advise on necessary repairs
* Ensure workshop equipment is properly maintained and calibrated
* Follow all health & safety and compliance procedures
About You
* Valid DVSA MOT Tester licence
* Proven experience as an MOT Tester / Vehicle Technician / Automotive Mechanic
* Strong mechanical and diagnostic skills
* Confident working on cars and light commercial vehicles
* Able to use diagnostic software and modern workshop equipment
* Reliable, professional, and detail-oriented
* Comfortable working independently and within a team
* Full UK driving licence preferred
