J&J Therapy is a well-established physiotherapy clinic located in New Malden, Surrey, serving a diverse and multicultural community. We provide a comprehensive range of physiotherapy and rehabilitation services, operating 7 days a week. Our clinic serves approximately 300 patients per month, with a significant proportion of Korean-speaking patients reflecting the local community demographics.
The Role
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Physiotherapy Assistant to join our clinical team. The successful candidate will work under the direct supervision of our HCPC-registered Senior Physiotherapist, assisting in the delivery of high-quality physiotherapy treatments and rehabilitation programmes.
Key Responsibilities
Assist in delivering manual therapy, therapeutic massage, and rehabilitation exercises under the direction and supervision of the Senior Physiotherapist
Administer shockwave therapy and manual lymphatic drainage treatments as prescribed in patient treatment plans
Provide patient education on exercises, stretches, and self-management techniques
Communicate effectively with Korean-speaking patients in their native language, including explaining treatment procedures, obtaining informed consent, and providing aftercare instructions
Maintain accurate patient records and assist with clinical documentation
Support the clinical team in ensuring smooth day-to-day clinic operations
Uphold infection control protocols and maintain a clean, safe treatment environment
Essential Requirements
Minimum 5 years of experience in physiotherapy, rehabilitation, or a closely related clinical field
Recognised qualification in physiotherapy, rehabilitation therapy, or an equivalent discipline from any country
Proficiency in manual therapy techniques, including soft tissue mobilisation and therapeutic massage
Native or near-native fluency in Korean (spoken and written) — this is a Genuine Occupational Requirement under the Equality Act 2010, as approximately 38% of our patients are Korean-speaking. Clear communication in the patient's native language is essential for obtaining informed consent, explaining treatment procedures, and ensuring patient safety and dignity
Strong understanding of musculoskeletal conditions and rehabilitation principles
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary clinical team
Commitment to maintaining high standards of patient care and clinical practice
Desirable Requirements
Experience with shockwave therapy equipment
Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD) qualification or training
Registration with a relevant UK professional body (e.g., CNHC, SMA, FHT)
Experience working in a physiotherapy or rehabilitation clinic setting
What We Offer
Full-time position: 40 hours per week
Salary: £38,000 – £42,000 per annum (depending on experience and qualifications)
