Description
Are you a dynamic sales leader with a passion for building high-performing teams and driving disciplined growth? Helm is seeking a seasoned and highly networked Director of Sales, Promotional Products, to lead and scale our national Drop-Ship/Spot Buy sales organization while elevating our existing sales team.
Candidates do not need to be based in the Detroit area but must be willing to travel to both our Detroit-area and Baltimore sales offices, with additional travel as needed.
In this role, you will have full commercial responsibility for the Promotional Products business, owning revenue performance and growth targets. You will lead, coach, and develop a team of field-based sales professionals, build and expand a national sales team, and establish clear territories, sales cadences, and accountability standards. With a hands-on, player-coach approach, you will support key opportunities, ensure CRM and forecasting discipline, and identify pathways for Drop-Ship/Spot Buy relationships.
You will also be responsible for strengthening sales culture by setting clear expectations, driving professionalism, and creating a high-accountability environment grounded in metrics and results. Success in this role requires a strong cross-functional partnership with Client Services, Operations, and Finance to ensure smooth execution and client satisfaction.
Requirements
The ideal candidate has direct experience in the promotional products industry, including Drop-Ship selling, and a proven track record leading and scaling field sales teams across multiple regions. You bring a network of customers along with steady, confident leadership, strong emotional intelligence, and the ability to coach, upgrade, and hold teams accountable to high standards.
