What you’ll be doing Providing 1:1 support for a pupil with social, emotional, and mental health needs Helping the student access learning in a way that feels safe and achievable Building trust through routines, positive relationships, and a consistent approach Working closely with the SENCO, class teacher, and wider pastoral team Supporting emotional regulation, de-escalation, and calm transitions throughout the day What we’re looking for You don’t need a long list of qualifications, but you do need the right attitude. The school would love someone who is: Calm under pressure and brilliant at reading the room Resilient, empathetic, and genuinely child-focused Experienced in SEMH, youth work, mentoring, or challenging behaviour Great at building relationships and setting gentle, firm boundaries Ready to be that steady person a pupil can rely on If you’ve worked in alternative provisions, PRUs, residential care, or similar settings, that’s a big bonus.
