We are currently partnering with a Local Authority in the North of England who are seeking an experienced Environmental Health Manager to lead their service on an interim basis.
This is a key leadership role, overseeing a broad Environmental Health function including food safety, private sector housing, trading standards, public health, and regulatory compliance, while managing a multidisciplinary team of officers and technical staff.
The Role
* Leading and managing the Environmental Health service to deliver statutory functions
* Overseeing key service areas including Food Safety, Private Sector Housing, Trading Standards, and Environmental Protection
* Driving performance and ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and regulatory bodies (including FSA requirements where applicable)
* Providing strategic leadership and operational oversight across the service areas
* Supporting, mentoring, and developing a team of Environmental Health and Regulatory officers
* Acting as a key contact for senior stakeholders, elected members, and external partners
Requirements
* Strong Environmental Health background within a local authority setting
* Proven experience managing or leading teams across multiple disciplines
* Knowledge of food safety, housing standards, and trading standards legislation
* Relevant professional qualifications (e.g. Environmental Health / Food Safety competency)
* Ability to lead service delivery, manage change, and drive performance
The Offer
* £500 per day
* Engagement via Umbrella or Outside IR35
* Flexible / hybrid working arrangements
* Initial 3 month initial with 12 month contract with potential to extend
