Field Service Engineer (covering the Midlands)
Location: Leicester
Hours: 45 hours per week | between 08:00 and 17:30 Monday to Friday. A 40-hour per week option is available.
Salary: between £43,992 and £46,800 pa DOE (based on 45hpw)
Are you a skilled technician with a passion for problem-solving and delivering exceptional service? We’re looking for a proactive and customer-focused Field Service Engineer to join our Aftermarket team!
This is a mobile role where you’ll be responsible for servicing, repairing, and maintaining specialist vehicles at customer sites and company workshops. You’ll play a vital role in ensuring our vehicles are safe, compliant, and operating at peak performance.
Responsibilities
* Diagnose and repair faults on vehicle chassis and mounted equipment
* Carry out servicing and maintenance to a high standard
* Prepare vehicles for MOT inspections and ensure compliance with Department Of Transport specifications
* Use diagnostic software and tools to identify and resolve issues
* Log all work using PDA software and maintain accurate service records
* Travel to customer sites across the UK, sometimes at short notice
* Maintain a clean and safe working environment at all times
* Communicate clearly with customers and provide excellent service
* Support health and safety practices and complete risk assessments as required
Ideal Candidate
* NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in Heavy Vehicle Service and Maintenance
* Previous experience in a similar role (Field Service, HGV Mechanic, Workshop Engineer)
* Strong diagnostic and fault-finding skills
* Knowledge of vehicle technology systems and compliance standards
* Comfortable working independently and managing your own workload
* Excellent communication and customer service skills
* Flexible with working hours and willing to travel
* General computer literacy and ability to complete technical documentation
* Experience with electric vehicles, IRTEC qualification, or HGV Class 2 licence is a bonus
