Job Summary

We are seeking a motivated and detail oriented Pharmacy Clerk to join our expanding team. In this role, you will work closely with our Pharmacy Technician to support the safe and efficient management of prescriptions, helping to deliver high-quality care to our patients.

If you are enthusiastic about working in a collaborative environment and share our values of integrity, quality, respect, and wellbeing, we would love to hear from you. This is an exciting opportunity for anyone looking for a new challenge and the chance to make a real difference in patient care.

About Our Practice

Our practice has proudly served the people of Fishponds and the surrounding areas for over 100 years. Founded by Dr Claude Bernard in a Victorian house at 564 Fishponds Road, the practice was later taken over by his son Cyril, who guided it through the war years and the establishment of the NHS in 1948.

Today, we are a stable and well-established practice with a dedicated and experienced team. Our team includes 5 partners, 5 salaried doctors, practice nurses, health care assistants, urgent care practitioners, and a pharmacy team, all supported by a large team of care coordinators and a supportive management team.

We embrace innovation and technology to improve processes, enhance efficiency, and manage workloads effectively. Regular clinical meetings foster collaboration, supported by a friendly and approachable team culture.

We are proud to be a training practice, teaching medical students from Year 1 to 5, which contributes to a vibrant and positive atmosphere in the surgery. As part of a successful Primary Care Network (PCN), we enjoy the benefits of collaborative working, sharing ideas, and continuous improvement.

With strong administrative processes and a consistent record as a high QOF achiever, we are committed to delivering the highest standards of care to our patients.

About the Role

This is a varied and rewarding role where you will play a key part in ensuring our patients have safe, timely, and efficient access to their medications.

Working closely with GPs, our Pharmacy Technician, and other members of the Care coordinator team you'll help us maintain the highest standards of care and compliance, while supporting the smooth running of our prescribing service.

Main Duties of the Role

The successful candidate will play a key role in providing safe, efficient, and high-quality prescribing support within the Practice. Responsibilities will include:

* Processing repeat prescriptions daily via online systems and email, in line with Practice protocols.
* Reviewing and inviting patients for blood tests and medication reviews to ensure records are up to date and QOF targets are met.
* Prioritising and expediting urgent prescription requests to maintain a responsive and safe service for patients.
* Ensuring all prescribed medications have appropriate and current authorisations.
* Managing prescription-related queries from healthcare professionals—including GPs, nurses, clinical and community pharmacists, nursing home staff, and the Practice Care Coordinator team—promptly and effectively, within the scope of competence.
* Adjusting medication quantities at the request of GPs, with guidance and support from the Pharmacy Technician.
* Collaborating closely with other practice staff as part of a team-based approach.
* Undertaking any other duties reasonably required to support the smooth running of the service.

Please note: This list is not exhaustive and may be subject to change in line with service needs.
