We’re working with a leading R&D consultancy based in Cambridge, trusted by global clients to deliver advanced wireless systems across sectors including defence, telecoms, industrial, satellite, and healthcare. As part of their expansion, they’re looking to hire a Principal RF Engineer to take ownership of high-impact design challenges and drive innovation across RF product development. This role suits a hands-on RF expert who enjoys solving complex technical problems, mentoring engineers, and shaping architecture decisions across a wide range of novel products – from bespoke comms systems to mmWave devices and high-performance modems. The Role As a Principal RF Engineer, you’ll be a technical leader within a cross-functional project team, working closely with clients, project managers, and fellow engineers to design and deliver world-first solutions. You’ll architect radio systems, guide RF design from concept through test, and play a key role in technical decision-making, review processes, and best practice implementation. You’ll also be a go-to expert on RF topics within the team and help steer the future direction of the RF group. Key Responsibilities Lead the design and development of complex RF/uWave sub-systems and architectures Specify and simulate circuits using tools like ADS, CST, HFSS, Microwave Office Oversee and perform lab testing and debug activities (VNA, spectrum analysers, signal generators, etc.) Engage directly with clients to translate requirements into robust RF designs Provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior engineers Represent RF in multidisciplinary project reviews and planning discussions Contribute to internal technical strategy and continuous improvement initiatives Why This Role?
