About the Role
A leading global organisation is seeking a highly skilled Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) Specialist to join its Workplace Virtualization team. You’ll be part of a dynamic and international group supporting over 30,000 users across 20+ Citrix farms, playing a key role in shaping the future of virtual workplace technologies.
This is a hybrid role based in Bristol, requiring 2 days onsite each week and the remainder remote. The role focuses on delivering expert-level design, integration, and support for Citrix-based virtual desktop environments, while collaborating across teams to implement cloud-aligned workplace solutions.
Key Responsibilities
* Deliver and maintain the Virtual Desktop roadmap in collaboration with Tech Specialists and Architects.
* Design and evolve virtual desktop and application hosting platforms for both local and global needs.
* Build business cases for optimal desktop platform usage and ensure alignment with global strategies.
* Provide high-level consultancy, support, and guidance to technical teams.
* Stay current with internal strategy, vendor roadmaps, and emerging technologies.
* Track and mitigate technical debt; support cost-reduction targets.
* Ensure technical delivery is completed On Time, On Budget, On Scope (OTOBOS).
* Deliver expert-level third-line support in line with SLAs.
* Automate reporting and maintain accurate technical documentation.
Required Expertise
Technical Proficiency:
* Strong experience in Citrix XenDesktop 7.x, Citrix Cloud, Storefront, and NetScaler.
* Active Directory, Windows 10/11, and Windows Server (2012R2–2022).
* VDI infrastructure experience (ESX & Azure).
* Endpoint management using SCCM and Intune.
* Ivanti Appsense integration.
* PowerShell scripting in Citrix environments.
Additional Skills:
* Background in project-driven technical delivery and performance improvement.
* Excellent communication and stakeholder management across diverse teams.
* Experience influencing technical direction and managing third-party vendors.
* Agile/Scrum knowledge is a plus.
* Flexibility to support occasional weekend or out-of-hours work.
* Commitment to change control procedures and internal compliance.
