Overview
2nd Year Student or Newly Qualified Veterinary Nurse is invited to join Basildon Pitsea Vets for Pets on a temporary basis.
This is a full-time role (40 hours per week) with 1 in 4 weekends. The position is fixed term for 12 months, with the potential to extend.
You’ll be joining a busy 24-hour hospital with multiple advanced facilities and a high case load, including emergency and critical care cases, soft tissue & orthopaedic surgeries, and dedicated cat, dog and exotic wards, outpatients and isolation units. There is a dedicated dental area with dental X-ray. The practice emphasizes pain control and anaesthesia, including regional anaesthesia, and is working towards zero-pain practice accreditation.
Education and support for the team is important; the practice regularly offers EMS placements and is a veterinary nursing training practice. The aim is to provide a supportive learning environment for all team members.
Responsibilities
* Deliver high standard patient and client care, supporting the veterinary team in all nursing duties.
* Assist with emergency and critical care cases and support various surgical procedures (soft tissue & orthopaedic).
* Work across cat, dog and exotic wards, outpatients and isolation units; support the dedicated dental area and use dental X-ray equipment as required.
* Assist with anaesthesia and pain control, including regional anaesthesia; participate in infection control and safety protocols.
* Contribute to the learning environment by engaging in EMS placements and ongoing professional development.
* Collaborate with a supportive non-clinical team to ensure smooth client journeys and allow nurses to focus on clinical duties.
Qualifications
* 2nd year SVN or recently qualified RVN
* Excellent communication and organisation skills
* Willingness to embrace all aspects of the Veterinary Nurse role and deliver high patient and client care
