A well-established UK manufacturing organisation is seeking an experienced Quality & Environmental Manager to join its operations team. The business operates within a regulated production environment and places a strong emphasis on operational excellence,pliance and continuous improvement.
Your new role
As Quality & Environmental Manager, you will have full responsibility for maintaining and developing quality and environmental management systems across the manufacturing operation. You will act as the key contact for audits, certifications and regulatorypliance, while working closely with production teams to embed best practice on the shop floor.
This is a hands-on role requiring a strong presence within the operational environment and the ability to influence at all levels of the business. With approximately 50% of the role being spent on the production floor, working directly with operational teams.
Key responsibilities include:
1. Managing day-to-day quality control and environmentalpliance activities
2. Leading and developing a small team of quality inspectors
3. Owning and improving the internal audit programme
4. Managing external audits, certifications and regulatory inspections
5. Investigating non-conformances and leading corrective and preventive actions
6. Acting as the voice of the customer on quality matters
7. Driving continuous improvement initiatives using data and root cause analysis
8. Delivering quality and environmental training across the business
9. Supporting wider HSE initiatives and cultural improvements
What you'll need to succeed
To be successful in this role, you will have proven experience managing quality and environmental systems within a manufacturing or production environment.
You will also demonstrate:
10. Strong working knowledge of ISO 9001 and ISO 14001
11. Hands-on experience in quality and environmentalpliance
12. Experience preparing for and leading external audits
13. Confidence leading teams and influencing stakeholders at all levels
14. A practical, proactive and solution-focused mindset
15. Excellentmunication and interpersonal skills
Qualifications and experience:
16. HNC/HND (or equivalent) in Engineering, Quality or a related discipline
17. 2–4 years’ experience in a Quality, Environmental or QHSE leadership role
18. Six Sigma Green Belt (desirable but not essential)
