Lead Neurodevelopmental Practitioner (Clinical Lead)

Lead Neurodevelopmental Practitioner – a senior, clinically‑led role within the Community Paediatric Service, responsible for leading a skilled nursing and allied health workforce across the neuro‑developmental pathway in Cambridgeshire.


Position Overview

Registration as a Registered Nurse or Allied Health Professional and education to Master’s level or equivalent experience with senior community paediatrics or neurodevelopmental services is required.


Key Responsibilities

* Lead and deliver the skill‑mix neuro‑developmental model, ensuring evidence‑based, person‑centred care.
* Provide independent clinical leadership and clinical direction to the nursing/allied health team and administrators.
* Drive service improvement, audit and quality initiatives and develop clinical guidelines, protocols and SOPs.
* Play a core role in diagnostic assessments, including ADOS, and provide training in these assessments.
* Develop and deliver training programmes for the skill‑mix team.
* Act as an expert clinician/role model, delivering high standard care without supervision and influencing standards across the service.
* Manage the nursing/allied health team workforce, including recruitment, professional development and resource planning.
* Produce and present governance, quality and risk reports to relevant committees.
* Engage with families, clinicians and partners to streamline pathways and promote best practice.
* Ensure adherence to NICE guidance, statutory and best‑practice guidelines and maintain infection control standards.
* Support financial management and budgeting for the clinical service, including signatory authority and business‑case development.
* Promote and safeguard the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults.
* Represent the service to external stakeholders, ensuring client and carer expectations are met.


Requirements & Qualifications

* Registered Nurse or Allied Health Professional, Master’s level education or equivalent senior experience in community paediatrics or neurodevelopmental services.
* Independent prescribing qualification (non‑medical) or willingness to obtain it; willingness to pursue ADOS training.
* Senior experience in community paediatrics or neurodevelopmental services.
* Strong clinical, leadership and communication skills.
* Experience in managing multidisciplinary team, audit, governance and quality improvement.
* Ability to influence decisions, deliver change management and maintain high standards of safety and patient experience.
