The purpose of this post is to ensure provision of sufficient high-quality clinical placements for all pre-registration allied health professions (AHPs) within the Trust. By achieving sufficient high-quality placements, this role will enable safe, effective, compassionate care to be delivered by student AHPs and to ensure a sustainable AHP workforce that can meet the changing needs of University Hospitals Sussex (UHSx). To achieve this aim, the role may also include supporting education for post-registration and other learners such as support workers. Working as part of a central team and under the guidance of the Clinical Lead for AHP Education
Main duties of the job
The post holder will develop strong communication networks with managers, clinical leads, educators and placement areas, contributing to curriculum development that reflects current practice and workforce needs. The post holder will support strategic workforce initiatives, including contributing to the AHP workforce strategy, and ensure transparent communication of resources, funding and opportunities.
Working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams, the role promotes a unified approach to education and practice development, including communicating sensitive information and supporting change implementation. Representation at internal and external meetings, alongside facilitating education forums, is also required.

This role is eligible for visa sponsorship under the UK Visas & Immigration (UKVI) Skilled Worker route however sponsorship can only be provided where applicants meet the specific requirements set by UKVI, including the relevant skill and salary thresholds (£25000), and any role-specific criteria.

The post holder will:
- Ensure risk assessments and reasonable adjustments are implemented effectively for AHP students in clinical settings across UHSussex
- Scope new ways to expand AHP student placements
- Develop and maintain robust governance of placements and standardisation across sites
- Ensure high quality, safe placements for AHP learners
- Link UHSussex, HEIs & regional/national groups to continuously improve curricula / placement offerings
- Facilitate virtual and face to face pastoral support / education sessions for students on placement
Service delivery will be enhanced through reduced administrative load on clinical educators, and improved confidence and competence to support learners, thus impacting on psychological wellbeing and workforce retention. Improved governance / induction / student support will positively impact on patient safety
