We are a respected and expanding main contractor operating across a wide range of sectors. With a strong pipeline of upcoming projects we are seeking an experienced Construction Manager / Construction Director to join our leadership team. This role is ideal for someone with extensive main contracting experience and a proven ability to lead teams, manage multiple projects, and help drive operational performance across the business.
The Role:
As Construction Manager / Director, you will oversee the successful delivery of multiple construction projects from pre‑construction through to completion. You will provide strategic leadership, ensure operational consistency, and support project teams to achieve high standards across safety, quality, programme, and commercial performance. This position requires a hands-on leader with exceptional construction knowledge, strong decision‑making skills, and the ability to manage client relationships and guide project teams effectively.
Key Responsibilities
* Oversee and support multiple project teams to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to a high standard.
* Provide leadership on all matters relating to health & safety, ensuring a positive safety culture across all sites.
* Implement and uphold quality assurance procedures across all live projects.
* Manage and coordinate contract managers, site managers, subcontractors, and direct labour resources.
* Lead project reviews, progress meetings, risk assessments, and programme updates.
* Work closely with clients, consultants, and stakeholders to maintain strong relationships and resolve project issues swiftly.
* Support pre‑construction activities, including buildability reviews, programming, planning, and resourcing.
* Monitor project performance, productivity, commercial progress, and reporting metrics.
* Provide mentoring, training, and performance management for site and project teams.
* Lead operational improvements, ensuring consistency in delivery across the business.
Requirements
* Extensive experience as a Construction Manager or Construction Director with a main contractor.
* Strong technical background, ideally with a trade or site management foundation.
* Proven track record delivering projects from start to finish.
* Excellent understanding of construction methodology, sequencing, procurement, and subcontractor management.
* Demonstrable experience in managing multiple sites or large‑scale projects.
* Strong leadership, communication, and organisational skills.
* Ability to read and interpret drawings, specifications, and contractual documents.
* SMSTS and First Aid at Work certifications.
* A proactive, solution‑focused approach to problem‑solving.
Additional Information
Project locations will vary depending on workload. Our sites are primarily based across London and East Anglia, so flexibility and willingness to travel across these regions is essential.
