Main duties of the job

What You’ll Do – and the Skills That Will Help You Succeed:

Deliver and manage fundraising across key income streams including corporate partnerships, individual giving, events, and major donors.

Plan and lead events and fundraising campaigns, bringing strong project management skills and creativity to everything you do.

Build and nurturerelationships with supporters, fundraisers, and volunteers, using your empathy and communication skills to create lasting connections.

Develop clear andengaging donor journeys that inspire ongoing support.

Use your analytical skills to manage budgets, maximise Gift Aid, and evaluate fundraising performance.

Communications & Marketing

Be a strong storyteller, creating content that raises awareness and deepens engagement across social media, newsletters, and the website.

Workconfidently across digital platforms, maintaining and updating web and social channels.

Be a compelling face for LATCH, representing the charity at events, cheque presentations, and public speaking engagements.

Collaborate with the wider team to gather powerful case studies and ensure ethical, dignified storytelling.

Compliance & Data

Keep accurate, compliant records using Beacon CRM.

Ensure all fundraising activity meets Charity Commission, Fundraising Regulator, and GDPR standards.

Contribute to policy development and continuous improvement, bringing attention to detail and a commitment to best practice.

LATCH Welsh Children’s Cancer Charitysupports children and young people under the care of the Paediatric Oncology and Haematology Unit at the Children’s Hospital for Wales. We provide vital emotional support, practical help, financial grants, family breaks, accommodation, and much more.

In 2024, LATCH supported over 155 families and 500 individuals, delivered nearly 1,800 nights of free accommodation, and awarded over £320,000 in direct financial support. All of this is made possible thanks to the passion of our small team and the generosity of our incredible supporters.

We work side by side every day—sharing ideas, celebrating each other’s successes, and pulling together to support families when they need it most. Though part of Cardiff and Vale University Health Board, and benefiting from NHS terms and conditions, we operate like a small charity: close-knit, agile, and full of heart.

Qualifications

* A track record of successful fundraising in ideally two or more of the following income streams: • Trusts and Foundations • Major Donors • Corporate Partnerships • Community/Challenges and events • Individual Giving – regular giving/campaigns and appeals
* Fundraising or marketing related qualification


Experience

* A track record of successful fundraising in ideally two or more of the following income streams: • Trusts and Foundations • Major Donors • Corporate Partnerships • Community/Challenges and events • Individual Giving – regular giving/campaigns and appeals
* Knowledge and experience of delivering effective communication to build audiences, e.g., through newsletters, webpages, social media platforms, PR.
* Experience of management and leadership on communication, engagement and fundraising within a charitable organisation.
* Understanding of, and experience in prospect research and developing new donor relationships.
* Experience of using a wide range of online and written communications and engagement channels and techniques.
* Experience of working within a health charity.
* Experience of working within NHS Wales.
* Experience of having developed and implemented communication and engagement plans around complex issues.
* Experience of video editing.
* Experience of working with volunteers.


Skills

* Strong IT and digital skills including CRM database, MS365 including SharePoint and Teams, Social Media Channels, Word Press.
* Excellent ability to creatively write a range of materials suitable for different audiences and present it in an engaging and appropriate form.
* Proven ability to engage, persuade, inspire and support people to undertake fundraising activities.
* Target-focused with proven experience in delivering to income targets.
* Excellent research and analytical skills.
* Commitment to ethical fundraising, equality and diversity.
* Good time management skills, able to work in an organised way, under pressure, meeting deadlines.
* Understanding of the Welsh charity landscape.
* Experience of having developed and implemented communication and engagement plans around complex issues
* Ability to speak Welsh.


Special Knowledge

* Knowledge of a range of communications disciplines, including media relations, digital engagement and internal communications.
* Excellent understanding and knowledge of charitable fundraising, charity commission and information and financial governance.
