*Job Summary:*As an AP Teacher at First Thought Care Services Ltd, an alternative to education provider, you will play a crucial role in supporting the educational journey of individuals with special educational needs. This position involves a variety of responsibilities, from setting & marking educational work to attending EHCP reviews and supporting families. As we aim to register as an independent school, this role offers a significant growth opportunity.First Thought Care Services, is a privately owned organisation meeting the needs of those that we support, in a variety of ways. We work in the community; we have our own on-site education facility, and we have a number of residential / support provisions. We are based at 164 Hucclecote Road, Gloucester. GL3 3SH and we really aren’t a provision like any other. On site we have a sensory garden, climbing frames, Jacuzzi, a gym, cinema rooms, sensory rooms and that isn’t even half of it!The Centre is non-denominational and has a secular ethos, but respects the cultural needs and religious beliefs of all. The centre specialises in students with SEMH, Learning Disabilities and behaviours that may challenge. Through flexible learning programmes, delivered using high-quality teaching and exceptional pastoral care. We achieve this by forming particularly strong relationships between our staff and those that we support.*Main Duties of a Teacher with FTCS:** Design and set appropriate educational tasks and objectives for individuals with special educational needs.* Attend and contribute to Education, Health, and Care Plan (EHCP) reviews.* Provide support and guidance to families, helping them understand educational pathways and strategies.* Mark and assess students' work, providing constructive feedback to support progression.* Prepare for the organisation's transition to an independent school status, involving strategic planning and curriculum development.* *Travel between Gloucester and Hereford* branches to ensure consistent support across locations.* The identification of SEN in individuals in our care and across the service as a whole, including the collection, collation, analysis and synthesis of evidence of the existence of such needs.* The assessment of individual SEN and the assessment-based planning of appropriate responses to it.* Effecting efficient delivery of SEN provision for all who require it and managing the day-to-day operation of the delivery process, including any additional special needs identified after admission.* Ensuring that appropriate resources are made available and effectively deployed.* Setting up and maintaining an effective record-keeping and document control system with regard to SEN provision.* Ensuring that staff colleagues have the means to refer for assessment individuals in our care about whom they have concerns and, in appropriate circumstances, for individuals in our care themselves to self-refer.* Providing advice, support and, in appropriate circumstances, in-service training for staff colleagues with regard to individuals’ in our care SEN.* Co-operating with the Responsible Person in maintaining high quality services for individuals in our care with SEN, through regular monitoring and process review.* To ensure that additional special needs provision is timetabled appropriately.* To provide the Responsible Person with a weekly report.* Term time or full time position is open to discussion.*Requirements:** Proven experience as a SENDCO or a similar role within an educational setting.* Strong understanding of the educational requirements for students with special needs.* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with students, families, and staff.* Ability to travel between branches as required.* Organisational skills with the capability to manage multiple tasks.* A passionate commitment to the education and well-being of children.*Qualifications:** Required: Degree in Education or a related field with a focus on special education.* Preferred: Additional certifications or qualifications in special education or related fields.*Benefits:** Competitive salary with negotiable increments based on experience and qualifications.* Expenses for travel between branches covered.* Opportunity for career advancement within a growing educational environment.* Bespoke training and induction* Opportunities for Career progression, including NVQ qualifications* Optional overtime with flexible working* Pension Scheme* Competitive salary* Employee Assistance Programme available 24/7 for you and your family* Monthly Employee prize draw and competitions (you can win a holiday too)!* Discounts at large retailers including ASDA, APPLE and JET2_First Thought Care Services is an equal opportunities employer and positively encourages applications from suitability qualified and eligible candidates regardless of sex, race, disability, age, sexual orientation, gender reassignment, religion or belief, marital status or pregnancy and maternity.__This organisation is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of the vulnerable adults that we support and expects all staff to share this commitment.
