Quantity Surveyor Location: Birmingham Project Types: Public sector, education, healthcare, residential regeneration, commercial, and blue-light facilities The Opportunity An established, nationally recognised main contractor is seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join its growing commercial team. The business delivers high-quality projects across the public and private sectors, with a strong focus on sustainability, social value, and collaborative frameworks. Projects typically range from £5m–£50m and include new build and refurbishment schemes across: * Education facilities (primary, secondary, SEN schools, colleges) * Healthcare developments (hospitals, community health centres) * Residential regeneration and mixed-use schemes * Commercial offices and civic buildings * Blue-light facilities (police, fire, emergency services) This is an excellent opportunity to join a financially stable contractor with a strong pipeline of secured work through long-term frameworks and repeat clients. Key Responsibilities * Manage commercial aspects of projects from procurement through to final account * Prepare and manage subcontract packages, including tendering, negotiation, and appointment * Monitor project costs, valuations, variations, and cash flow * Produce CVRs and financial reports in line with company procedures * Work collaboratively with project teams to manage risk and maximise value * Support client relationships and attend commercial/progress meetings * Ensure compliance with contractual requirements (JCT/NEC forms commonly used) Candidate Requirements * Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor with a main contractor * Experience delivering public sector and/or framework projects preferred * Strong knowledge of JCT and/or NEC contracts * Commercially astute with strong negotiation skills * Degree-qualified (or equivalent) in Quantity Surveying or related discipline * Working towards or achieved MRICS (desirable but not essential) What’s on Offer * Competitive salary car allowance / company car * Bonus scheme * Private healthcare * Pension contribution * Clear progression pathway within a supportive commercial structure * Strong commitment to sustainability and social value
