Job Purpose:
The Pastoral Tutor will provide support, guidance, and mentoring to students to help them achieve their academic, personal, and career goals. The role involves promoting student well-being, monitoring progress, and ensuring a positive and inclusive learning environment.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide pastoral support to students, ensuring their welfare and well-being are prioritised.
* Monitor student attendance, punctuality, and progress, addressing concerns promptly.
* Conduct one-to-one tutorials and group sessions to support personal development, study skills, and employability.
* Work closely with curriculum staff and support teams to ensure students receive the help they need.
* Promote positive behaviour and engagement in college life.
* Maintain accurate and confidential records of student progress and interventions.
* Support the college's safeguarding and equality policies.
* Help students set and review academic and personal targets.
* Refer students to specialist services where appropriate (e.g., counselling, learning support, careers advice).
Person Specification
Essential
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
* Ability to motivate and engage young people.
* Strong organisational and record-keeping skills.
* Understanding of safeguarding and confidentiality principles.
* Empathetic, approachable, and student-focused attitude.
Desirable
* Experience working with young people or in an educational setting.
* Qualification or training in counselling, mentoring, or education.
* Knowledge of student support systems and welfare services.
