SEND Specialist – Science
Prospero Teaching are partnered with Local Councils, SEND teams and Schools throughout the UK. We have a high demand for one-to-one or small group SEND Specialist Tutors who have experience supporting students with Special Educational Needs (SEN) and are commutable to the Gateshead area.
The Opportunity
As a SEND specialist Tutor, we are looking for someone who can create tailored 1:1 Lesson plans for children with complex needs, including reduced mobility, ASD, ADHD, GAD and other neurodiverse or additional learning needs. We need tutors with previous experience in SEND tutoring at Key Stage 3 and Key stage 4 Level, Specifically in Science who can put a tailored lesson plan together based on each individual student and both implement this plan with passion and efficiency while also adapting as the plan progresses.
Contract/Position Details:
· Location – Gateshead
· Position – SEND Specialist Tutor
· Type of work – Contract
· Start date – ASAP
· Setting – either within the students home or in the community (learning hub/library)
· Duration – Until the pupil is able to find a suitable school placement
· Contract type – Temporary
· Full-time/part-time availability, ranging from 2-30 hours p/w per student
· Rate of pay – up to GBP30 per hour
Your role with us:
· Deliver one-to-one or tuition supporting students with SEND, focusing on building confidence, helping to adapt the students methods of learning and focusing on Key stage 3 and Key stage 4 level education.
· Develop and implement personalised lesson plans that address individual learning gaps.
· Monitor student progress and provide regular, constructive feedback to students and their families.
· Complete daily attendance and weekly reports.
Experience, Training and Qualifications of the SEND Specialist Tutor:
· Children related/Education qualification
· Possess UK classroom teaching experience
· Be creative, patient and willing to think outside of the box
· Have experience working with students with SEND including ASD, ADHD, GLD and challenging behaviours
To be eligible for this role, the potential SEND Specialist Tutor must:
· Hold the right to work in the UK
· Hold an enhanced child barred list DBS certificate registered with the online update service or be willing to process a new application
· Have a background in Tutoring Key stage 3 or Key Stage 4 level science
· Be able to reference the last two years of education/employment
