Strathmore College are recruiting for an Counselling Psychologist to join our Therapy team! We are looking for enthusiastic, caring and passionate people to become an integral part of our therapy team. The successful candidate will join our multi-disciplinary team, which may suit someone experienced in a special needs environment or newly qualified, who will be required to work closely with other Therapists and professionals providing support to students; reporting to the Therapy Manager.

About the college:

Strathmore college is an SEN college for students aged 19 to 25. What makes us different is that each of our learners work on a completely individual programme which is specifically structured to support them into employment and to gain an increased level of independence as they prepare for adulthood. Good links with employers enables learners to develop skills in the workplace to support their transition.

The Strathmore College building itself acts as a central hub from which a vast range of community-based learning takes place. Community-based learning is central to our ethos, with learners engaging in a lot of practical, hands-on activities and work-based learning.

About the role:

We’re looking for someone with a well-rounded skill set who brings both experience and a genuine passion for supporting others. In this role, you’ll feel right at home if you have a strong understanding of:

8. Providing a psychology service to support students with complex needs
9. Identifying and delivering appropriate tailored therapy and interventions to promote and develop students’ mental, emotional, physical, and social wellbeing
10. Liaising with families and carers to support student progress and help them achieve their outcomes
11. Carrying out home visits and building positive, supportive relationships with families
12. Welcoming new starters through thoughtful and thorough assessments
13. Delivering engaging, subject-specific training to help colleagues thrive
14. Managing EHCPs and contributing to meaningful, person-centred annual reviews
15. Working collaboratively with mental health professionals to support individual needs

16. Resilience – We support some of the most vulnerable children in society who have varying degrees of emotional behavioural difficulties, autism, ADHD and associated difficulties so there will be times where your resilience is challenged.
17. Communication – Communicating with our young people is vital to understand their needs. Positive working relationships, good teamwork and communication plays a key part in ensuring important information is relayed to other staff.
18. Committed – will join a supportive and experienced team of dedicated support staff, committed to delivering the very best care.
