Location: Coleraine
Hours: 37 hrs per week
Pay: 1-12 weeks £ 13 weeks + £

We are hiring on behalf of Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council for an experienced HR Assistant in the Coleraine area.

About the Role

5. Reporting to the HR Business Officer, the HR Assistant will contribute to the effective operation of the OD/HR Department through the provision of a professional and confidential administration support service. To ensure all administration procedures are followed in accordance with the Local Government Staff Commission and all legislative requirements.
6. To produce correspondence and reports as required to support the application of Council's policies and procedures.
7. To work across the OD/HR team as and when required.
8. Ensure that the department complies with all statutory and legislative requirements by adhering to these requirements and working in accordance with good governance and health and safety requirements.
9. Ensure that all responsibilities are carried out in a timely and effective manner and that general confidentiality is maintained in all areas relating to the work of the Council.

Key Responsibilities

10. Contribute to the successful implementation of the OD/HR Business Plan across the Council including effective implementation of all HR policies and ensuring maintenance of all HR systems.
11. Assist with the administration of Council's recruitment and selection process and sit on interview panels as required.
12. Liaise with the Recruitment Agency to meet operational requirements within the department.
13. Contribute to the effective implementation of the Probation Review process including updating and maintaining the probation review schedule.
14. Co-ordinate induction processes and maintain and compile induction packs for distribution.
15. Assist with the co-ordination of placement students across the Council. Ensure that all relevant paperwork is completed including insurance documents. Liaise with Managers and Course Tutors as appropriate.
16. Create, maintain and update both manual and computerised filing systems and the HR system (PAMS) which includes all appropriate personal records as required and in accordance with Data Protection requirement. Monitor and continually audit all employee files to ensure compliance with Councils' Retention and Disposal Policy.
17. Issue and assist with probationary reports, to include issuing guidance and ensuring reports are completed by managers by the appropriate date and returned to OD/HR accordingly for review by the HR Business Officer.
18. Produce management reports, compile, collate and analyse information as required.

Essential Criteria

19. Five GCSEs (grades A - C) or equivalent, to include English Language and Maths/Accounts.

AND

Be able to demonstrate on the application form, by providing personal and specific examples:

20. A minimum of two years' relevant administrative and/or business support experience.

OR

21. Alternatively, consideration will be given to candidates who do not possess the required educational qualifications but who can demonstrate three years' administrative and/or business support experience.

PLUS

22. A minimum of six months experience in the use of Microsoft Office applications to include: Word, Excel and Outlook.
23. Knowledge and understanding of GDPR legislation.
24. A full current driving licence (Category B, valid in the UK) and access to a vehicle that will enable the post holder to meet the requirements of the post OR have access to a form of transport that enables you to carry out the duties of the post.
