ROLE OVERVIEW

The team

The Knowledge & Legal Technology team offer tools and services which provide outstanding client service and encourages innovation within the client journey. The role

We have an exciting opportunity for a Research & Information Specialist to join our Knowledge & Legal Technology team.

Working as part of the Research team you will assist in the delivery of the legal research service across the firm. The role will require a proactive approach and engagement with lawyers and business services employees across the firm. You will answer legal and business research requests as well as assisting the Legal Research, Training and Resources Team Leader with resources management and training.

This is a full-time role (5 days per week) based in our London office, but we are open to exploring flexible working patterns. This can be discussed during the application process.

Key responsibilities include:

1. Undertaking legal and business research using a variety of online resources to provide support with client matters and business development activities.
2. Supporting the Legal Research, Training and Resources Team Leader with managing the firm's resources by undertaking activities such as negotiation and renewal of subscriptions, evaluating usage of online products, monitoring and purchase of new resources, cataloguing, invoice processing, reviews of library stock and ongoing monitoring of budget.
3. Ensuring that full value is realised from our investment in online research resources by assisting with promotion of resources to relevant teams, making use of customisation features (e.g. report templates) to enhance user experience and organising supplier-led training.
4. Assisting with the development of the Knowledge team's resources pages on the firm's intranet (The Hub), for example developing team and sector specific resources pages.
5. Providing in-person and online training to new joiners, trainees, vacation students and ad hoc training as requested.
6. Regularly reviewing core processes and identifying best practice models and maintaining/updating core process documentation.
7. Cover for other team members as and when required to ensure continued service delivery.

Knowledge, skills and experience

8. Proven experience in an Information Services or a related discipline is essential, including knowledge of key legal resources.
9. Experience answering legal research queries across a range of topics and practice areas.
10. Extensive knowledge of key legal and business research databases and an excellent ability to search across publicly available sources.
11. Experience of library resources management including evaluation, purchasing, cataloguing, renewals and archiving.
12. Strong numeracy and budgeting skills and familiarity with procurement processes.
13. Effective negotiation skills and experience of negotiating online contracts.
14. Experience of using library management systems.
15. Excellent IT skills with the ability to exploit existing resources including a good working proficiency of Microsoft suite of applications and tools.
16. Demonstrates a growth mindset and is committed to lifelong learning to build knowledge and expertise.
17. Delivers an internal and external client experience that exceeds expectations.
18. Demonstrates an organised approach to their work. Plans, prioritises and uses technology to work efficiently. Able to manage multiple concurrent requests and shifting priorities
19. Works commercially to achieve the objectives of the team/firm. Maintaining an up-to-date understanding of the firm's priority sectors, key clients and strategic objectives.
20. Collaborative and works effectively in a team. Developing strong working relationships across team and with key stakeholders.
21. Committed to being part of a supportive, inclusive and collaborative firm culture.
22. A degree or post-graduate qualification in a library or information related discipline is desirable.
