Teaching Personnel is seeking enthusiastic Teaching Assistants to support pupils across primary schools in Newport. You’ll help children overcome barriers to learning, build confidence, and thrive in the classroom.
The Role
Job Title: Teaching Assistant
Location: Newport
Start Date: September 2025
Pay: £89.38 per day (based on experience/qualifications)
Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:30am – 3:30pm
Contract: Full-time or flexible/part-time options available
Key Responsibilities
Support pupils 1:1 or in small groups with additional needs
Promote emotional regulation and positive behaviour
Adapt learning materials to meet individual abilities
Create an inclusive and engaging learning environment
Collaborate with teachers, SENCOs, and specialists
Contribute to EHCPs (Education, Health and Care Plans) and IEPs
Who We’re Looking For
Graduates or students in Psychology, Education, Sociology, Childhood Studies, or similar
Experience with children or young people (paid, voluntary, or personal)
Passionate about supporting children with SEN
Calm, empathetic, and a good team player
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
