Overview
A vacancy at Nottinghamshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust. The Trust is seeking to appoint a 6 PA Consultant Old Age Psychiatrist to join a fully supported inpatient team at Kingfisher, based at Kings Mill Hospital. The post holder will provide senior medical input to the team and participate in local leadership meetings and service development with local operational leads. This is a replacement inpatient post suitable for an Old Age Psychiatry colleague who will assume responsibility for diagnosis and treatment of patients admitted to Kingfisher ward (dementia inpatient). The successful candidate will offer outstanding clinical leadership and clinical care for patients admitted to the functional ward. Applications are welcome from experienced consultants and Higher Trainees finishing the final six months of training and preparing for CCT.
Responsibilities
* Provide medical leadership for the multi-disciplinary team on Kingfisher
* Provide medical/psychiatric assessments to inform care planning and risk assessment
* Complete administrative tasks related to clinical responsibilities
* Maintain good clinical records using the Trust’s electronic record system
* Maintain a revalidation portfolio and participate in annual appraisal
* Undertake a job plan review with the Clinical Directors annually
* Maintain professional registration with the GMC and be approved as an Approved Clinician and Section 12(2) approved doctor
* Attend team and governance meetings
* Comply with the Trust’s agreed policies and procedures
* Participate in the OPCU out-of-hours on-call rota
* Provide clinical supervision of junior medical staff
Requirements / Qualifications
* Current medical registration with the GMC
* Approval as an Approved Clinician and Section 12(2) approved doctor
* Clinical seniority in Old Age Psychiatry and ability to provide leadership
* Eligible for 6 programmed activity units in a consultant post
* Participation in job planning and annual appraisal
