Job Description Royal Voluntary Service has an opportunity available for a ESG Manager to join our Business Operations Team, working from home. You will join us on full-time, permanent basis, and in return, you will receive a salary ranging from £44,095 to £50,394 per annum (please note the salary range applies from 1st October 2025 pay award). About the ESG Manager role: We are looking for an ESG Manager to lead the development and delivery of ESG initiatives. This is an exciting opportunity to embed environmental and social sustainability across the charity, from our operations and supply chains to our volunteering programmes and partnerships. This is the first time RVS has had a dedicated ESG role. Core to the purpose of this role is to define what an ESG programme at RVS might look like; what certifications or standards are most appropriate for RVS to aim for; and lead the ongoing management and delivery of organisational change. This role will play a pivotal part in delivering RVS’s ambition to achieve B Corp certification and to become a leader in sustainable voluntary action. Hours: 35 per week Location: Homebased with occasional national travel Job Requirements This is what we're looking for: Knowledge Knowledge of sustainability frameworks, reporting standards, and accreditations (e.g., B Corp, SBTi, Net Zero) and ability to analyse organisational context and recommend which are most appropriate to target. Track record of taking an organisation without ESG credentials (e.g. ISO) and achieving the target certification Track record of achieving and sustaining B Corp Knowledge of social impact measurement and embedding sustainability into service delivery is desirable. Skills Strong project management skills, with the ability to balance strategic and operational priorities. Excellent communication and influencing skills, with experience engaging diverse audiences. Familiarity with carbon accounting, ESG reporting, or sustainability certifications. Experience A collaborative, mission-driven mindset with the ability to inspire staff and volunteers around the philosophy and purpose of the ESG movement. Experience within the voluntary sector, health sector, or a values-driven organisation. Job Responsibilities This is what you'll be doing: Strategy & Leadership: Develop and deliver a sustainability strategy aligned with RVS’s mission, values, and organisational strategy. Act as the charity’s subject-matter expert on sustainability, advising the Executive Team, Board, and staff. Lead RVS’s journey towards B Corp certification, including gap analysis, action planning, and embedding required changes. Operations & Performance: Establish clear sustainability objectives, KPIs, and reporting frameworks (including carbon footprint, waste reduction, and ethical procurement). Work with all our internal operations teams such as Estates, IT, and Finance to improve environmental performance across offices, retail, transport, and supply chains. Support the development of sustainable volunteering practices, reducing the environmental footprint of our services and activities. Culture & Engagement: Engage staff, volunteers, and partners to build a strong sustainability culture. Develop training, communications, and campaigns to embed sustainable behaviours across the organisation. Act as a champion for inclusion and social value within sustainability work. Partnerships & Influence: Build partnerships with corporate supporters, funders, and peers to strengthen RVS’s sustainability work. Represent RVS externally as a sustainability leader within the voluntary and health sectors.
