Job Overview

EQUANS is looking for a Maintenance Plumber to work on our Lancashire and Blackburn Schools contract across Blackburn and Burnley. This role is a permanent full‑time role (40 hours per week) with a competitive salary and benefits package.


Responsibilities

* Carry out building maintenance as required.
* Provide technical solutions for PPM work and fault rectification.
* Undertake fault finding and diagnosis, problem solve and communicate technical knowledge to others.
* Be fully conversant and provide detailed knowledge of plant status, building conditions, and services availability.
* Manage energy across the project.
* Undertake CP/RP duties in specialist fields.
* React to technical issues and support the team when required.
* Maintain planned and reactive schedules.
* View BMS PC Information and adjust settings where necessary.
* Build and maintain effective relationships with existing customers/client.
* Provide out of hours cover in accordance with roster.
* Responsible for ordering specialist materials in line with company/office policy.
* Perform any other duties reasonably requested by the management team.

The role is part of a maintenance team delivering services to 11 schools across Burnley and Blackburn, central to delivering Technical FM services in line with the FM contract.


Complexity

Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) on domestic and commercial water systems in accordance with the PPM programme, respond promptly to breakdown requests, and carry out installation work involving minor upgrades and adaptations. Safely operate all hand and power tools in accordance with health & safety and manufacturers’ guidelines, ensuring the correct use of personal protective equipment and adherence to health & safety and infection control procedures. Maintain records as appropriate and submit any required documentation. Assist and work flexibly with other trades while ensuring minimal disruption to the schools. Respond safely to adverse weather conditions, undertake training to maintain and develop the service requirements, collaborate and cooperate with partners and colleagues, participate in Standby Operatives’ on‑call rota, liaise and undertake duties at other Equans projects as directed.


Qualifications & Experience

* Plumbing recognised accreditation or certification; Gas Safe advantage.
* Previous experience in an FM maintenance environment, ideally in an education setting.
* Experience working on both commercial and domestic water systems.
* Good understanding of rainwater harvesting systems.
* Undertaken Level 8 ACOP training and knowledge of Legionella risks in water systems.
* Participation in an on‑call rota.
* Enhanced DBS clearance essential.
* Proven track record of practical maintenance skills and fault finding.
* Good understanding of building services such as boilers and pressure systems.
* Sound knowledge of Health and Safety and Zero Harm.
* Ability to follow site and company policies and procedures.
* Flexibility to work out of hours and overtime.
* Experience working in school/PFI environment.
* Full UK driving licence.
* Vehicle provided.
