BIM / CAD Specialist
Shift Times:
Monday - Friday 08:00-17:00 or 09:00-17:00
Typically 2-3 days per week on site depending on project requirements
Pay Rate:
£43.00 - £50.00 per hour (dependent on experience)

Overview of the role:
The BIM / CAD Specialist will be responsible for designing new products and updating existing designs using advanced CAD and BIM applications, with a strong emphasis on 3D modelling and Revit, in line with Heathrow Airport's BIM standards.
The role supports NEC projects across the Heathrow portfolio, ensuring drawings, models, and documentation meet evolving airport BIM requirements. You will work closely with engineering teams to support timely project delivery, provide practical and creative design solutions, and manage updates across fire detection, BMS, and automation system documentation.
This position requires a high degree of independence, problem-solving ability, and collaboration across multiple disciplines. The role is primarily office-based near Heathrow but operates on a hybrid basis due to the specialised nature of the work. There is potential for the role to transition from temporary to permanent employment for strong performers.
Key Deliverables and Responsibilities:
1. Produce and update BIM-compliant CAD drawings and Revit models for Heathrow Airport projects
2. Develop new product designs and improve existing designs using CAD tools
3. Create and maintain wiring diagrams, schematics, layouts, and fire detection device placements
4. Ensure all design work complies with Heathrow's 3D modelling and BIM governance requirements
5. Upload and maintain latest design details and revisions within BIM environments
6. Collaborate with engineers and project managers to support efficient and timely project delivery
7. Evaluate products, parts, and processes for cost efficiency, constructability, and reliability
8. Manage multiple tasks simultaneously with a high degree of accuracy and autonomy
9. Support or guide junior team members or external resources where required
10. Participate in NEC project meetings and coordinate design updates as necessary
Skills & Qualifications:
11. Strong BIM capability, with expert proficiency in Revit (essential due to Heathrow BIM standards)
12. Demonstrable experience using CAD tools for both 2D and 3D model production
13. Experience working with BIM models forming part of a wider site-wide digital model
14. Experience producing or updating wiring documentation, device layouts, and engineering schematics
15. Bachelor's degree in a related technical or engineering discipline
16. Proven experience in design roles using BIM and CAD applications
17. Strong understanding of design processes, engineering standards, and multi-disciplinary coordination
18. Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within engineering teams
19. High level of judgement, problem solving, and creativity in design tasks
