The main purpose of the role is to provide the strategic and operational leadership for the University’s Student Wellbeing Service, setting out clear planning and delivery targets and developing strategic objectives, to ensure that the service meets the needs of the university and that students are provided with the best possible opportunities for progression, thriving at university and onward to graduate employment.

The role holder will have responsibility for the Student Wellbeing Service comprising of the Disability Team, Counselling, Mental Health Advisers, Student Wellbeing Advisers, GBV Prevention and Response Adviser, Student Mental Health Project Officer and Administrative support. The post holder will be part of the Senior Management Team alongside the Head of Careers and the Head of Enquiries, Advice and Events.

We are looking for and enthusiastic individual to lead on the development and implementation of University policies and practice in relation to student mental health, wellbeing and disability support, ensuring that the University is well-informed in terms of current thinking and best practice, making a key contribution to GCU’s Strategy and enabling plans e.g., Education, Engagement, Internationalisation, a Destinations of Choice for Students; developing appropriate policy and procedures to support the effective delivery of Wellbeing Services.

Educated to degree level or equivalent experience plus an appropriate professional qualification the successful candidate must have sound knowledge of Student Mental Health, Wellbeing, Disability best practice and GBV prevention and response.
