*Job Summary:* We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Nursery Manager to lead and oversee the daily operations of our nursery. The successful candidate will ensure that high standards of care, safety, and educational activities are maintained while fostering a positive, inclusive environment. Welsh language proficiency is essential for this role, as communication with children, parents, and staff in Welsh is a key aspect of the position. *Key Responsibilities:* * *Leadership and Management:* * Oversee the day-to-day operations of the nursery, ensuring smooth and effective management of resources. * Lead, motivate, and manage a team of nursery staff, providing guidance, training, and support. * Ensure compliance with all regulatory and legal requirements, including health and safety regulations, child protection policies, and educational standards. * Promote a culture of teamwork, respect, and continuous improvement. * *Welsh Language Communication:* * Conduct daily activities, meetings, and communication with staff, children, and parents in Welsh. * Foster a bilingual environment that encourages the use of Welsh, promoting its use in educational and social interactions. * Ensure that all written and verbal communication, including reports, letters, and documentation, is provided in both Welsh and English when necessary. * *Curriculum and Educational Development:* * Develop and implement age-appropriate educational plans and activities to meet the individual needs of children. * Encourage the development of children’s language, social, cognitive, and physical skills through creative and structured activities in both Welsh and English. * Monitor children’s progress and provide reports to parents and guardians regularly. * *Health, Safety, and Wellbeing:* * Ensure a safe and healthy environment for all children, adhering to all health and safety regulations. * Conduct risk assessments and manage emergency procedures, ensuring the wellbeing of both children and staff. * Promote emotional and social development through positive behaviour management techniques. * *Parent and Community Relations:* * Build and maintain positive relationships with parents, keeping them informed of their child's progress and any concerns. * Organize and participate in parent meetings, open days, and other community events to promote the nursery’s services. *Essential Skills & Qualifications:* * Fluency in the Welsh language (both spoken and written) is essential. * A recognised qualification in Early Years Education (e.g., Level 3 or above in Childcare or Nursery Management). * Proven experience in nursery management or a leadership role within a childcare setting. * Strong understanding of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) or equivalent. * Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. * Ability to lead and motivate a team effectively. * Strong organisational and time management skills. *Desirable:* * Previous experience working in a bilingual nursery or childcare setting. * Knowledge of the Welsh Government's policies and initiatives in relation to early childhood education. * First aid certification or willingness to obtain.
