Overview
Passenger Assistant role with Dorset Travel, supporting transport provision for children and young people with additional needs within Dorset as well as out of county. The team also supports transport needs for Mainstream, Child Care, and Adults. A Regular Passenger Assistant is required from the Sherborne Area, contracted at approximately 16 hours per week – Term Time Only, commencing at £12.85 per hour. This vacancy is to support a young person(s) attending Yewstock School. Candidates need to be available in the morning and afternoon to coincide with school opening and closing times.
We base the pro‑rata salary on: the number of hours, the number of weeks worked, and paid annual leave entitlement for an employee under 5 years' service. In the first year of service this salary may need to be adjusted to ensure you are paid accurately to reflect your holiday entitlement. A similar adjustment may be made at the point your employment ends to ensure that you are paid accurately for the number of days worked in any academic year.
Responsibilities
* Support children and young people with additional needs, providing assistance and maintaining a safe environment on the journey from/to home and school.
* Be part of a team that works together to ensure safe, reliable transport for service users.
Qualifications and Skills
* Knowledge of moderate and complex learning needs.
* Understanding of safeguarding children.
* Ability to recognize hazards and report them appropriately.

* Physically fit with the ability to run, bend, stretch, push, pull, lift, carry and kneel to perform duties.
