Job Description for Sub Agent - A428 Project
Skanska, a leading project development and construction group, is delivering a £679 million improvement project on the A428 in Cambridgeshire, creating a new 10-mile dual carriageway between the Black Cat and Caxton Gibbet roundabouts. In partnership with Mott MacDonald and in collaboration with National Highways, this project aims to transform one of the busiest road links in the East of England, easing travel for local communities and fostering societal progress.

We are seeking Sub Agents to join our team. As a Sub Agent, you will manage construction activities within a designated section of the A428 project. Your responsibilities include overseeing planning, programming, delivery, and handover of your section with a focus on quality and efficiency. You will work under the guidance of an Agent but are expected to take ownership of your section's detailed planning and execution.
Key Responsibilities
* Create an effective working environment for your team.
* Conduct temporary works inspections.
* Review designs and communicate technical queries to design teams.
* Develop a 3-month lookahead plan for your section, aligned with the overall contract programme.
* Maintain accurate site records and communicate changes promptly.
* Coordinate requisitions for plant and materials in a timely manner.
* Ensure quality records are properly captured and stored.
* Manage Non-Conformance Records and ensure their prompt resolution.
* Set and uphold health and safety standards for your team and suppliers.
* Implement environmental management expectations and initiatives to reduce carbon footprint.
Qualifications and Skills
* Degree in Civil Engineering or HND with vocational training in Engineering.
* Effective communication skills for diverse audiences.
* Understanding of engineering principles and construction methodologies.
* Knowledge of construction contracts, gained through experience or training.
* Progressing toward or holding a professional qualification (IEng, CEng, etc.).
* Formal training in Health & Safety and Environmental management (SMSTS).
* Full UK driving licence is required.
* Legal right to work in the UK is essential.
Preferred Experience
* Excavation works, including permit management (HSG47).
* Lifting operations (CPCS A61).
* Temporary works supervision or coordination.
* Concrete works experience.
* Structural steelwork experience.
