Overview

This is an exciting opportunity for you to join our Community Occupational Therapy Service where you will make a real difference to the lives of the people we work with. Responsibilities

* Primarily working with disabled people and their carers in their own homes, you will assist in the delivery of Occupational Therapy services.
* Carry out strength‑based assessments under the direction of an Occupational Therapist.
* Identify outcomes and implement agreed action plans.
* Recommend adaptations, equipment provision, rehousing, rehabilitation programmes and teach clients new techniques of daily living.
* Participate in the Occupational Therapy intake duty process.
* Provide support and advice to clients, families/carers with long‑term conditions.
* Develop knowledge of standard structural adaptations and identify when specialist input from an Occupational Therapist is required.


Qualifications and Experience

* Good literacy and numeracy skills or qualifications in Maths and English (GCSE or equivalent).
* Understanding of the role of Occupational Therapy in Adult Social care.
* Experience of working with people who have care and support needs.
* Flexible and responsive to changing needs and demands while organising and managing workload and time effectively.
* Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate clearly and sensitively to a wide range of people in a wide range of formats.
* Knowledge of Adult Social Care eligibility criteria.
* Understanding of adult safeguarding policy and practice.
* Resilience and adaptability to respond to competing demands and changing priorities.
* Willingness and ability to travel around the city and access a variety of venues.


Additional Requirements

* Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) at Enhanced level will be required prior to any offer of employment and this post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974.
* Explain any gaps in your career history within the last 5 years – this is essential for all safeguarding roles.
* Demonstrate right to work in the UK. No post will be offered without it.
