This is an exciting opportunity to join a multidisciplinary environmental team, focused on evolving and executing our environmental sustainability strategy. You'll be given the scope and opportunity to guide projects toward best practice to achieve the objectives of the GRAHAM environmental sustainability strategy and goals. Reporting to the Environmental Manager, this position will focus on working across the Building North division (in NI) to help build, collect and verify environmental data and to drive progress via internal and external communications.
Job Description
The Environmental Advisor shall:
1. Review project environmental risks and opportunities
2. Prepare Construction Environmental Management Plans and other management plans as required
3. Advise management & staff on environmental matters
4. Undertake audit planning in line with agreed audit frequencies
5. Conduct site environmental compliance audits
6. Investigate environmental incidents
7. Review subcontract documentation as it relates to environmental controls
8. Summarise and communicate legislation updates
9. Assist with applications for environmental permits, licence, and exemptions
10. Collect environmental data for monitoring, analysis, and reporting
11. Assist in the evaluation of site and regional performance relating to carbon, energy, waste, water, biodiversity, and other parameters as required
12. Measure performance against targets and objectives and contribute toward strategies for ensuring that targets and objectives are met
13. Compile case studies for sharing of best practice environmental measures
14. Prepare and deliver Environmental training and briefings
15. Prepare information for regular communication in the form of advice notes, intranet articles and reports
16. Undertake benchmarking exercises and co-ordinate and assemble awards submissions
17. Prepare responses for PQQs / Bids / Tenders as required
18. Audit and advise on improvements to the EMS
19. Liaise with external auditors with regards to ongoing certification
This job description is intended to give the post holder an appreciation of the role envisaged for the Environmental Advisor and the range of duties to be undertaken. It does not attempt to detail every activity. Specific tasks and objectives will be agreed with the post holder at regular intervals.

Technical Competencies
Essential
* Degree qualified
* Minimum associate level professional membership with IEMA or equivalent body
* Excellent understanding of the environmental/ sustainability agenda
* Experience of Environmental data collection and managing KPIs
* Good working knowledge of relevant Environmental legislation
* Experience of Environmental Auditing
* Demonstrate strong communication skills
* Awareness of the relevant management standards
* Good working knowledge of Microsoft packages such as Outlook, Word and Excel
* Full driving licence
* Experience in construction or a construction-related discipline
Desirable
* Formal Internal Auditor course
* Formal Lead Auditor course
* Experience gained from working on or with site teams
