Salary: Circa £62000 depending on experience plus executive benefits
What you’ll be doing
You will work closely with the Head of Defined Benefit Pensions in the Trustee & Member Services team, supporting the oversight of all United Kingdom defined benefit pension schemes and Trustee Boards, which collectively manage a fund of £23.6 billion and over 150,000 members. Your role will involve ensuring full regulatory and legislative compliance, and maintaining effective working relationships with regulatory bodies on behalf of the Trustees. You will provide guidance and support to Trustee Boards, sub-committees, the Consultative Committee, Joint Pensioner Committees, participating employers, Human Resources, and Employee Relations on matters relating to the Schemes and their members. In addition, you will drive continuous improvement and enhance the effectiveness of both the Trustees and the Schemes by collaborating with professional advisers and providers, and by contributing to the efficient operation of all United Kingdom defined benefit pension arrangements.
* Extensive technical knowledge of defined benefit pensions, including pensions industry expertise and practical experience
* Demonstrable experience in managing Trustee Boards and sub-committees, with the ability to advise and support Trustees effectively
* Proven track record in driving continuous improvement and developing best practice for Trustee Boards and all pension-related procedures
* Solid understanding of regulatory and legislative compliance, ensuring schemes operate within the law
* Relevant pensions qualifications, either fully qualified or part qualified, including PMI or similar recognised professional accreditation
* Excellent relationship and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to liaise confidently with Trustees, advisers, employers, and regulatory bodies
* Exceptional organisational skills, including prioritisation of tasks and managing competing demands in a complex environment
The Pensions Team
You will be reporting directly to the Head of Defined Benefit Pensions and will be an integral part of the Trustee & Member Services pensions team. The team is close-knit and supportive, working collaboratively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment. You will interact regularly with Trustee Boards, colleagues across the Head Office pensions function, including the Defined Benefit Administration Manager, Defined Benefit Technical Manager and Scheme Secretary, as well as Scheme Advisers and Providers. This is a varied and stimulating role, offering exposure to all areas of pensions and the opportunity to engage with senior stakeholders, making a tangible impact on the effectiveness and success of the Schemes.
