Summary
An opportunity has opened for a Senior Project Manager within our SSE North Scotland business. The role involves leading project managers who oversee teams installing electrical power distribution and transmission systems from 11kV to 132kV. The goal is to deliver safe, profitable, timely, high-quality, and fit-for-purpose networks that meet customer needs and enhance the company's reputation.
The Senior Project Manager will manage their own projects while supervising multiple Project Managers handling diverse electrical network projects concurrently. These projects may include installation of ground-mounted and structure-mounted power system components, cable systems, switchgear, transformers, busbars, relay panels, and related equipment in substations up to 132KV.
Key Responsibilities
* Report to the Operations Manager, lead multiple project managers and teams, and execute duties professionally to build confidence and promote business growth. Act as a first-line problem solver.
* Provide leadership, guidance, and support to Project Managers and teams, ensuring effective project delivery and fostering team development.
* Ensure all procedures are followed, prioritize Health and Safety, and undertake site supervision roles as required, in accordance with CDM regulations.
* Manage multiple projects concurrently, overseeing task allocation and team performance, and regularly appraise direct reports for development.
* Organize and control resources, including materials, equipment, and labor, for upcoming works on various projects.
* Maintain good commercial awareness, complete valuations, and ensure safety and maintenance of company property.
* Produce as-built records, test results, updated drawings, and project reports.
Candidate Requirements
* HNC/Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience.
* Operational knowledge of electrical power distribution systems.
* Site safety passport and/or experience working on CDM sites.
* SSSTS or SMSTS is desirable but not essential.
* Possession of SSE DNO authorization for PTW or equivalent (e.g., SPEN, NPg, UKPN).
