A Consultant post has become available in the Obstetrics and Gynaecology department at Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (LTHTR). The post will be a general Obstetrics and Gynaecology post with a requirement to participate in both Obstetrics and Gynaecology on call (total on call is 1:11 with addition of a gynae hot week 1:12). We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic individual to join our team. A passion for benign gynaecology and obstetric services is essential.
Main duties of the job
The post will be a general Obstetrics and Gynaecology post with a requirement to participate in both Obstetrics and Gynaecology on call (total on call is 1:11 with addition of a gynae hot week 1:12) including labour ward.
We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic individual to join our team. A passion for benign Gynaecology and Obstetric services is essential. The successful applicant will be expected to undertake ante natal clinics, general gynaecology clinics, including urgent and 2 week rule, in addition to supporting outpatient hysteroscopy and PMB service. Additionally, the successful applicant will be allocated operating sessions for benign gynaecology.
The successful candidate will be job planned to support governance and teaching roles to support the running and development of the department.

LTHTR is a teaching hospital serving a local population of 450,000 across Greater Preston, Chorley and South Ribble. The Trust has approximately 4,500 births annually and a level three neonatal unit. We provide Bluebell and Rainbow clinics plus services for high-risk pregnancies having recently become the Maternal medicine Centre for Lancashire and South Cumbria, We are privileged to work closely with a nationally recognised, award winning team of midwives dedicated to improving the birth experience for all women. We offer all four choices for place of birth. There is midwifery led birth units at both Royal Preston Hospital and at Chorley & South Ribble Hospital and a 12 bedded obstetric unit in Royal Preston Hospital.
In gynaecology we provide services in benign gynaecology, early pregnancy, endometriosis, urogynaecology, ambulatory, menopause, paediatric, endocrine disorders, vulval conditions and termination of pregnancy.
Preston is one of the four bases for Manchester university medical students. We provide academic and pastoral support to over 300 medical students in their clinical years 3, 4 and 5.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
1. Full GMC Registration and Licence to Practice
2. MBBS or equivalent
3. Must be entered on the Specialist Register (or entry within 6 months)
4. ATSM in Advanced Labour Ward Practice
5. ATSM in Gynaecological Sub-Specialism (e.g., BAS)
Desirable criteria
6. Teaching Qualification e.g., PG Cert
7. Medical leadership
Experience and Skills

8. Experience of working in NHS
9. Ability to deal with all common obstetric and gynaecological emergency presentations
10. Teaching Experience (undergraduate and postgraduate)
