Your Job
We are looking for a motivated Head of Finance to join the Aerospace & Defense Solutions (ADS) division in Edenbridge, UK. In this role, you will play a key part in the accounting function, ensuring accuracy and compliance while supporting the ADS Controller, local site leadership and broader finance team.
You will be responsible for managing day-to-day accounting activities, preparing and analyzing financial data, risk management, investment analysis and contributing to month-end close processes. Beyond transactional work, you will collaborate with cross-functional partners to identify process improvements and support the local management team to help drive operational efficiency and long-term value.

Reporting directly to the ADS Controller, our team thrives on teamwork, continuous improvement, and creating value through accurate financial management.
What You Will Do
1. Process and post required journal entries accurately and timely, ensuring proper coding and documentation.
2. Compliance - Ensure all accounting activities, internal audits, and financial reporting comply with relevant laws, regulations, and standards.
3. Manage the full accounting cycle: accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, bank reconciliations, and payroll coordination.
4. Lead a team of employees that support the accounts payable and accounts receivable functions.
5. Prepare and review month-end and year-end closing activities, including accruals, prepayments, fixed asset reconciliations, and intercompany transactions.
6. Maintain and update the general ledger to ensure accurate financial records in compliance with US GAAP and any statutory requirements for UK GAAP.
7. Assist in VAT preparation, including VAT returns and compliance with HMRC regulations.
8. Support the GAAP and statutory audit process by preparing schedules and providing documentation to auditors.
9. Monitor and maintain compliance with internal controls and accounting policies.
10. Support cash flow monitoring and financial planning activities.
11. Support month-end close, forecasting, and budgeting processes including integrating system enhancements and improving data flows.
12. Partner with various stakeholders to analyze product and cost savings opportunities, utilizing integrated financial and operational data.
13. Identify opportunities for process improvements and automation within accounting and finance functions.
14. Deliver insightful financial reporting and commentary to site leaders, integrating advanced data visualizations.
15. Collaborate cross-functionally to respond to ad hoc requests for data, analyses, and presentations.
Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)
16. Bachelor’s degree in accounting, or UK equivalent.
17. Extensive relevant experience in accounting.
18. Strong analytical and critical thinking skills with a business-oriented mindset.
19. Experience with financial close and consolidation platforms.
20. Experience with risk management and investment analysis.
21. Understanding of financial regulations and compliance.
22. Proficiency in financial reporting, budget plans, forecasting and accounting systems.
23. Proven ability to communicate clearly across functions and levels.
24. Comfortable working independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
25. Excellent Microsoft Excel skills.
26. Experience in PowerBi would be an advantage however, training can be provided.
