Lead Software Engineer – C++ | Remote UK | Up to £80k
I’m working with a growing UK technology company building software that operates in real-world environments - not just traditional SaaS.
Their platforms combine:
* cloud services
* on-premise processing
* physical deployments
Which means reliability, performance and pragmatic engineering decisions are absolutely critical.
As their customer base grows, they’re now looking to introduce a Software Architect to help shape the technical direction of the platform.
The Role
This is not a pure management position.
You will remain hands-on technically while guiding architecture and helping develop the engineering team.
Think of this role as sitting between the CTO’s technical vision and day-to-day engineering delivery.
You will:
* Define and evolve system architecture
* Remain actively involved in C++ development
* Provide technical leadership to a team of 5 engineers
* Mentor and develop engineers
* Improve engineering standards and development processes
* Work closely with stakeholders on technical planning
* Occasionally support real-world deployments
Tech & Experience
They are particularly interested in engineers with experience in:
* C++ development
* Linux environments
* Distributed or production systems
* Software architecture & system design
* Azure or cloud infrastructure
* Technical leadership or mentoring
Nice to have:
* Real-time systems
* Edge computing
* Hardware-adjacent software
* Computer vision / image processing
