Child and Family Help Practitioner

As a Child and Family Help Practitioner, you’ll play a key role in delivering targeted early help and supporting children in need, working closely with families to create meaningful, lasting change. Based in Richmond or Kingston, you’ll be part of a multi-agency network focused on preventing escalation and improving outcomes through timely, effective interventions.

About the role
In this role, you’ll work directly with children, young people and their families, delivering high-quality, tailored support within both early help and statutory frameworks.
You will:
2. Complete whole-family assessments and develop clear, outcome-focused plans
3. Build strong, trusting relationships while maintaining professional boundaries
4. Act as lead professional, coordinating multi-agency support (Team Around the Child)
5. Deliver targeted interventions that reduce risk and promote independence
6. Accurately record all work and respond to safeguarding concerns appropriately
7. Support families through their journey, including where cases step up to statutory services
Working under the guidance of a qualified social worker, you’ll be based across a range of community settings including offices, family hubs and youth centres, helping ensure support is accessible and impactful. About you
You’ll be passionate about supporting children, young people and families, with the skills to deliver meaningful, outcome-focused interventions.
You will have:
8. A Level 4 qualification (or equivalent experience) in a relevant field
9. Experience working with children and families, including safeguarding concerns
10. Confidence delivering 1:1 and group interventions
11. Experience completing assessments and working with multi-agency partners
12. Strong communication skills and the ability to build effective relationships
13. Knowledge of Children’s Services, safeguarding processes and relevant legislation
You’ll be organised, adaptable and able to manage your own workload, with a strong commitment to inclusive practice and achieving positive outcomes for children and families.
