Job summary
We are looking for a proactive and experiencedSenior IT Service Managerto take full ownership of our IT project delivery and support operations. This leadership role will be responsible for managing both the IT Service Desk and the IT Projects Team, ensuring that business critical initiatives are delivered efficiently and users receive outstanding support.
The ideal candidate will be a confident communicator, a capable people manager and a strategic thinker with strong technical insight. A full driving license is required, as site visits to clients will form part of the role.
Key responsibilities
* Lead and coordinate the delivery of all technical operations across the business, from planning to implementation.
* Manage the IT Service Desk team, ensuring high quality, responsive support for all end users.
* Provide technical leadership across support, projects, onboarding and cybersecurity.
* Develop project roadmaps aligned with business objectives and priorities.
* Oversee and refine internal IT processes and documentation (SOPs, standards).
* Collaborate with the MD to align technical delivery with business objectives.
* Track performance across both teams, using KPIs and metrics to drive service improvement.
* Work alongside the Sales team to scope, cost and support new client solutions.
* Act as the point of escalation for major incidents and project issues.
* Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders, clients and third party vendors.
* Ensure clear communication of timelines, deliverables and risks to all relevant parties.
* Visit client sites when required for project delivery, infrastructure assessments and service reviews.
* Support recruitment and development of the technical team as the business grows.
What kind of person we are looking for
Essential:
* At least 5 years’ experience in an IT management role.
* Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to coach and motivate staff.
* Demonstrable experience delivering IT infrastructure, systems or transformation projects.
* Broad technical knowledge across IT systems, networks and end-user technologies.
* Commercial awareness, understands the balance between excellence and efficiency.
* Excellent communication, organisation and stakeholder management skills.
* Full UK driving license and willingness to travel to client sites.
Desirable:
* Industry-recognised project management certification (e.g. PRINCE2, PMP, Agile).
* IT service management experience or certification (e.g. ITIL).
* Experience in a customer-facing IT environment.
* Experience working with a managed services provider (MSP) or similar.
* Experience with tools such as NinjaOne, ConnectWise, BitDefender, GravityZone, SharePoint and Intune.
* Understanding of Cyber Essentials, ISO 27001 or other standards.
* Experience with PowerShell scripting for automation or systems administration tasks.
* Degree-qualified in Information Technology, Computer Science or a related field.
