Role: Electronics Design Engineer ( Digital Design FPGA)
Location: Shepton Mallet

You will work a 38 hour week and the role is Hybrid working available once candidate has successfully integrated into the team (minimum 60% office based hours).

Your role will be to Support for new system development and Design and development of ancillary electronic products and systems for integration of subsea cables.
Daily Tasks:
* Design and development of subsea and shipboard electronic systems primarily relating to the marine-seismic industry.
* Development of new products from concept through to production & from component to system-level
* Development and support of existing products (design improvement, component obsolescence, cost reduction)
* Software/Firmware/Mechanical/Production/Field Service.
* Supporting the Production Department with new product release, production and supply issues.
* of design, verification and test documentation in line with company processes.
* You may be required to travel to customer sites/vessels.
* Requirement specifications, schematic capture, creation of Bill of Materials, Engineering Change Notes, assembly instructions, component requests, department procedures, test specifications and analysis calculations.
Key Skills you will learn:
• Strong knowledge of and experience in specifying and developing electronic products in line with customer requirements.
• Design for conformance with industry standards/directives
• Small-signal, low-noise analogue design / simulation, sensor interfacing, DACs, ADCs
• Digital design including CPDL/FPGA design and verification, use of processors/micro-controllers, embedded computers.
• Experience with RS485, SPI, I2C, I2S etc.
• Working knowledge of Altium and/or Candence tools for schematic Capture, BOM .
• Proven track record of working in a multidisciplinary environment.
• Ability to work to a project schedule and provide regular progress updates to the Team Lead/Project Manager
Desirable skills:
• Working knowledge of C, Verilog, VHDL, python.
• Familiarity with Linux Operating systems
• Source-code control systems: SVN, Git, Azure DevOps
• PCB Layout using Altium and/or Candence tools, producing manufacturing documentation / liaising with PCB fabrication and assembly houses.
• Knowledge of power supply design
• Experience with fibre-optics
• Experience of designing for the marine or similar harsh environment / knowledge of the seismic industry.
