We’re looking for a passionate Software Engineer to join Maersk’s API Management team, building and operating our global Kong Gateway platform. This is a hands-on engineering role at the core of our technology backbone, enabling a seamless developer experience for teams across Maersk and our external partners.
You will design, develop, and operate a highly available, secure, and performant API Gateway—powering critical applications that move the world’s trade.

What You’ll Do
1. Engineer & Operate our API Gateway platform to be cloud-native, secure, scalable, and resilient.
2. Design & Implement APIs, backend services, and platform capabilities using Golang, Lua, JS, Bash, SQL, and modern cloud-native tools.
3. Automate Everything – from deployments (Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform, Azure) to testing (unit, integration, functional).
4. Monitor & Optimize platform performance with enterprise-grade observability (Prometheus, Grafana, Loki).
5. Troubleshoot & Support APIs and integrations using tools like Bruno, Grafana etc.
6. Champion API Best Practices across Maersk, mentoring and collaborating with engineers in multiple teams.
7. Implement SRE Practices – SLO/SLI tracking, error budgets, and toil reduction.
8. Collaborate Cross-Functionally with other platform teams to deliver reliable, compliant, and developer-friendly platform.
What You’ll Bring
9. Hands-on experience with API Gateways (Kong preferred; Apigee or others a plus).
10. Strong Golang skills and deep comfort with Linux environments.
11. Experience in cloud platforms (preferably AWS or Azure) and containerized deployments (Docker, Kubernetes).
12. Strong background in infrastructure automation (Terraform, Ansible, or similar).
13. Experience in observability (Prometheus, Grafana, Loki) and API troubleshooting at scale.
14. Familiarity with Generative AI frameworks and APIs (e.g., OpenAI, Azure OpenAI, LangChain, or similar) and ability to integrate AI-driven features into developer tooling and platform operations.
15. Knowledge of distributed systems, with a focus on performance, scalability, and resilience.
16. Solid understanding of SDLC, Agile/Scrum, DevOps and CI/CD pipelines.
17. Knowledge of OOP, design patterns, and secure coding best practices.
18. Excellent communication and collaboration skills—comfortable working with global teams.
