Overview
Reporting to the Senior Operations Manager, you’ll lead day‑to‑day operations across both quarries, ensuring materials are produced and dispatched safely, efficiently and in line with budget and customer requirements. Key Responsibilities
* Full responsibility for HSE, production, cost and performance across two operational sites
* Deliver production targets through effective resource planning and forecasting
* Drive a preventative maintenance culture and allocate maintenance resources effectively
* Lead, develop and coach site management teams, including succession planning
* Manage contractor relationships, performance review and compliance
* Own and deliver site improvement and sustainability initiatives
* Manage investments to ensure delivery safely, on time and within budget
* In charge of stock management and collaborate with supply chain, customer services and commercial teams
* Ensure ongoing compliance with regulatory and legislative requirements
Qualifications
* Confidence and visibility as a leader with experience managing complex, safety‑critical operations, ideally within quarrying, aggregates, construction materials or heavy industry
* Proven experience leading multi‑site or multi‑team operations
* Strong commercial acumen with the ability to set, manage, and control budgets
* In‑depth understanding of HSE legislation and best practice
* Ideally NEBOSH qualified with a relevant NVQ
* Strong working knowledge of the Quarries Act 1999
* Excellent communication and influencing skills across operational and commercial teams
* Structured, analytical approach to problem‑solving and decision‑making
* Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast‑paced operational environment
