Not your average role
As a technician, you will be responsible for:
* Specialised maintenance and investigation work, including analysis of technical drawings.
* Delivering reliable train services to meet business needs.
* Managing and reducing technical and Service Quality Incentive Regime defects across all T&RS systems.
* Writing detailed reports for senior management, including investigation findings and incident reports.
* Establishing and maintaining relationships with various parties.
* Fault finding and attending failed units, with support from out-based teams.
What You Bring
To succeed, you should demonstrate:
* Recognition through a Modern Apprenticeship at SCQF Level 6 or above in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, or related vocational fields (SVQ/NVQ Level 3).
* Academic qualifications in electrical/mechanical engineering (NC standard).
* Experience in fast-paced production or operational engineering environments.
* Proficiency with electrical testing equipment.
* Experience working on electric trains, particularly class 334s and 380s (desirable).
* Flexibility, enthusiasm, good communication, and team skills.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
* Knowledge of ISO 9001 procedures.
* Strong relationship-building skills.
* Self-motivation and ability to motivate others.
* Consistent delivery of standards and targets.
* Computer literacy and knowledge of specific databases.
A full UK driving license is essential. Shift work is involved. Further details will be provided at the interview.
Salary: £58,440 per annum, pending pay award.
Selection Process
Includes competency-based interview, medical examination, drug & alcohol screening, references, Disclosure Scotland clearance, and a six-month probation period.
